Elizabeth used her many talents to support me throughout my pregnancy and the birth of my daughter. I'm really not sure I could have done it without her! Because I am 40, my OBGYN labeled my file with a red "AMA" stamp (for "advanced maternal age") and treated me as if my pregnancy was a high-risk. If it weren't for Elizabeth's calm words of encouragement, I would have been terrified by that label. As it turned out, my pregnancy was a wonderful and natural experience.
At the end of my pregnancy, my baby was still in the breech position, and I was terrified at the prospect of either undergoing a cesarean section or undergoing "manipulation" to turn the baby while under anesthesia. As it turned out, neither option was necessary as Elizabeth's Moxa sticks did the trick...my husband simply burned the Moxa sticks by my ankles every night for a few days, and the baby turned on her own, without any invasive procedures.
I opted to give birth in the hospital due to my "AMA" status, but Elizabeth's presence made the experience much more natural and enjoyable. I benefited tremendously from the acupressure, massage and emotional support which Elizabeth provided-all of which substantially minimized my pain for over eight hours, despite the fact that I was receiving a Pitocin drip (which makes contractions stronger). When I finally opted for an epidural, my beautiful daughter was born about an hour later -- and I never felt judged for drawing from both natural birthing techniques or modern medical technology. My daughter is living proof that you don't have to choose between natural vs. medical births - with Elizabeth's help, you can enjoy the best of both worlds! JBR, Tavernier, FL
I was suffering from heart-attack like pain from acid reflux that was caused by gastroparesis. I would have these attacks three times a week, sometimes more. I was losing weight and sleep. The medications that the doctors wanted to give me had severe side effects. I started going to Dr. Shiah and the result was immediate. Since I have been seeing her, my headaches, moodiness and depression have lessened dramatically. In addition my energy level has improved significantly. At the moment, I am currently reintroducing certain foods - that were previously considered problem foods - into my diet and have not had an acid reflux attack in two months! Dr. Shiah is, in my opinion, a miracle worker and nothing less! EZ, Glenmoore, PA
After being seen by top urologic specialists in New York, I was given the options of lifetime medication or surgical procedures for my urinary stress incontinence. Dr. Shiah was able to completely cure my hyperactive bladder condition with acupuncture, herbal formulae and moxibustion. VS, MD, Manhasset, NY
I’ve had migraine headaches for years. After my first treatment with acupuncture, I left the clinic with no pain. It was as if a vice had been released.

Elizabeth is a very compassionate and gentle healer. I appreciated that she took the time to explain things to me and worked at a pace that made me feel very comfortable. Her gentleness and intuitive understanding are exceptional qualities for a doctor.

36 years of job-related heavy lifting had taken its toll on me. I suffered years of chronic lower back pain, which then radiated to other parts of my body. After only a few treatments with Dr. Shiah, I have been pain-free for the better part of the last 3 years. The most memorable acupuncture treatment I had was when I came into the office limping with knee pain that was completely gone by the time I walked out. I especially appreciate the quiet, gentle manner in which Dr. Shiah works. I always leave feeling relaxed and comforted.

As a martial artist I am no stranger to injury. Some of these injuries are considered chronic, having coped with them for so long. Dr. Shiah has been instrumental in providing me with a personal pain management program through non-invasive treatment, allowing me to continue training.
